Ireland RENTAL GUIDE

Renting tools in Dublin and across Ireland: what to check before you book

A practical guide to renting pressure washers, power tools, carpet cleaners and garden equipment from local owners in Ireland.

Buying a tool for one weekend can be poor value. A pressure washer, carpet cleaner, tile cutter, drill, ladder or garden machine may spend most of its life in a shed after a single job. Peer-to-peer rental gives you another option: find equipment already owned locally and rent it for the days you actually need it.

Start with the job, not the brand

Search for the task you need to complete. Terms such as pressure washer, carpet cleaner, rotavator, tile cutter, power drill or ladder are often more useful than searching for a particular manufacturer. Check the listing photographs, included accessories, power requirements and any minimum rental period before sending a request.

Check collection, size and transport

Some equipment fits in a normal car; other items do not. Before the rental is confirmed, ask about weight, dimensions and whether hoses, batteries, chargers, blades or attachments are included. Keep those questions in the RentRooster conversation so both sides can refer back to the same information.

Use the platform booking flow

On RentRooster the owner reviews the request first. Once accepted, the renter completes payment through the platform. Identity checks are used before key marketplace actions, and eligible on-platform rentals may qualify for the RentRooster Lender Guarantee subject to its terms. Avoid moving a booking or payment off platform, because doing so removes the record that helps support a genuine rental.

Inspect the item at handover

Take a few clear photographs at collection, especially of existing marks and the accessories supplied. Ask the owner to demonstrate unfamiliar equipment and follow the manufacturer's safety instructions. For specialist or potentially hazardous equipment, confirm that you have the experience, protective equipment and legal permissions needed to use it.

Return it the way you would want it returned

Clean reasonable dirt or residue, return every accessory and keep to the agreed time. If anything goes wrong, tell the owner quickly and keep photographs and messages. Straightforward communication is one of the easiest ways to prevent a small problem becoming a dispute.
