Outdoor equipment is ideal for renting because many people only need it a few weekends each year. Tents, camping furniture, cool boxes, roof boxes, paddleboards and other gear can take up significant storage space when they are not being used.
Match the gear to the trip
Check capacity, packed size, weight and weather suitability. For tents, ask about poles, pegs and groundsheets. For water equipment, confirm fins, pumps, paddles and safety equipment. Never assume a listing includes an accessory that is not described.
Inspect before travelling
Set up or test critical equipment before a long drive where possible. That gives both renter and owner a chance to spot a missing part while it can still be resolved.
Return dry and complete
Wet tents and outdoor equipment can be damaged in storage. Follow the owner's return instructions, remove obvious dirt and make sure all parts are returned. If weather makes that impossible, message the owner and agree what to do.
