Ireland RENTAL GUIDE

Camera, projector and AV hire in Ireland: a renter's checklist

What to look for when renting cameras, lenses, projectors, speakers and production equipment from local owners.

Photography and AV equipment can be expensive to buy and may only be needed for a shoot, presentation, wedding, interview or weekend project. Renting locally can make professional equipment accessible without the full purchase cost.

Be specific about compatibility

For cameras and lenses, confirm the mount, battery type, memory-card requirements and what is included. For projectors, check brightness, resolution, available inputs and whether the listing includes cables, screen, remote control and audio. For speakers or microphones, ask what leads, stands, receivers and power supplies are supplied.

Allow time for a proper handover

A five-minute demonstration can prevent a wasted rental. Confirm how the item powers on, how batteries are charged, how accessories connect and whether settings have been reset. If the equipment will be used at an important event, test it before leaving the handover location.

Use clear dates and messages

Send the owner the exact rental dates and a short explanation of the intended use. Owners have a defined response window, so requesting early is sensible for time-sensitive events. If the owner accepts, complete the payment step before the deadline so the booking does not lapse.

Protect both sides with evidence

Photograph valuable equipment and serial numbers at collection and return. Keep material communications on RentRooster. Verified accounts, recorded booking steps and the platform support trail make it easier to understand what happened if a genuine issue arises.
